What is this?

Hiya! Upon entering this page I know that you probably have no idea what a Therian actually is. What is Therianthropy? And that other word.. eum.. Otherkin?

Let me explain you the basics to know about who and what we are.

Therianthropy

Therianthropy is the phenomenon where a human has non-human, animalistic experiences and/or a non-human, animalistic (integral & personal) identity.

Therians (Therianthropes) are these humans who experience Therianthropy.

In other words, therians feel as if they are an animal.. spiritually, psychologically, both, internal, in experience, in identity and so forth.

Therians are at all times aware to be in a physical human body.

What therianthropy isn't

Therianthropy isn't a fashion statement, a belief, a spirituality, coping mechanism, mental illness or teenage phase.

Therianthropy however can include fashion (ex: Therian Gear), beliefs and spiritualities or be interwined with ones coping mechanism (see 'copinglink').

It is afterall a very broad and personal experience, different to each individual.

What is 'alterhuman', what is 'otherkin'

There are plenty of other such identity phenomenons and experiences.

"Alterhuman" has become a widespread accepted umbrella term for experiences such as therianthropy that don't fall within the standard perception/experience of a human being.

"Otherkin" is the phenomenon where a human has non-human experiences and/or a non-human (integral & personal) identity. These may be mythological creatures such as dragons, centaurs and mermaids.

The difference between therianthropy & otherkin lays within the experience of Animality and Animalistic Experiences.

Even more of such experiences exist, so we'd recommend you to do throughout research:
